Things To Do In Coconut Grove Florida

Miami is the place to be, and Coconut Grove is one of the most popular areas in the city. Whether you're moving here or visiting on vacation, you want to know what there is to do here. Whether you're here for the food, here with the kids, or here for romance, there's something in Coconut Grove for you. Here are the hot spots that you've got to check out.

See The King Mango Strut Parade

Who doesn't love a good parade? The King Mango Strut Parade happens every December, and it's a little different to other events that you've attended in the past. The parade aims to satirize the headlines of the past year, and they're not shy about how they go about it, either.

It's something you've got to check out if you're in Coconut Grove in December. It's a little wild and wacky, and you're sure to have a good time.

Shop Till You Drop At CocoWalk

There's no shortage of places to shop in Coconut Grove, but you'll see that CocoWalk is one of the most exciting places to be. Newly renovated, it's packed to the gills with shops, restaurants, and experiences. You can spend all day there browsing what's on offer.

There are always events happening here too, so check the website to see what's happening right now. You'll be sure to have a good time whatever you choose to do at CocoWalk.

Take Part In Free Yoga At Peacock Park

There's no better place to do yoga than in Peacock Park. This beautiful waterfront park is so picturesque, looking over Biscayne Bay. What's even better is that the yoga classes here are totally free. All you have to do is come along with your yoga mat on a Thursday or Thursday at 6pm.

That's not all the park has to offer though. You can also visit the Glass & Vine, that has an indoor/outdoor dining experience within the park.

Visit The Vizcaya Museum & Gardens

In the mood for some history? Coconut Grove is one of the oldest towns in Miami, and so there's so many historical sites and parks that you can visit. Vizcaya Museum & Gardens is one of the best, located on Biscayne Bay. This Renaissance style villa was the winter home of James Deering from 1914 to 1916, and now serves as a museum full of antiques and 16th and 17th century art.

The gardens are a sight to behold too, serving as an amazing photo backdrop. Come by and you're likely to see couples having their wedding photos taken here. They've also been used in countless movies as filming locations, too. It's a great place to walk around and enjoy the sights. Again, keep an eye on their website as there's often free events happening throughout the year.

Take The Grove Scenic Bike Tour

New to Coconut Grove and want to see all the sights? The Grove Scenic Bike Tour is just what you're looking for. Climb aboard the unique 15 seater tandem bicycle, and you'll be directed around the Grove to see all the historic sights.

The tour lasts for two hours, and your tour guide comes with so much knowledge about the local area. They even play music on board, so you can learn more about Coconut Grove as you enjoy tunes and have a drink at the same time. It's a different take on the tour bus, that's for certain.

Enjoy A Shake At Vicky's House

If you want to step back in time, you'll want to visit Vicky's House. This milkshake bar has a 1980's theme that's seen everywhere, from the retro living room décor to the old school video game consoles. The best part is the themed milkshakes on offer, that promise to overload you on sugar. The Golden Girl, for example, is a banana milkshake made with cream cheese frosting, Golden Grahams cereal, vanilla wafer, and toffee bits, topped off with a Twinkie and a home made blondie.

Milkshakes not your thing? Not to worry, as you can order one of their beers and wines, and enjoy your trip back into the 80's.

Read For Hours At Books & Books

This is one for the bookworms. Books & Books is an amazing independent bookshop, packed with more books than you'll know what to do with. There are several rooms to peruse, from best sellers and children's books to antiquarian rarities. Whatever you're into, you're going to find it here.

The staff here are highly knowledgeable, and will help you find your next amazing read. There's lots of staff recommendations, so you're always going to walk away with a great new book. Once you've picked it up, you can read it at their cafe.

Check Out The Coconut Grove Arts Festival

This festival was launched all the way back in 1963, and you can go along over President's Day weekend and check out the art from local artists. As well as that, you can enjoy live music and local food, too. It's a lot of fun, and with art from over 260 artists you're bound to come home with something.

This is just a small selection of all the things you can see and do in Coconut Bay. There's something for everyone, so get your fill of arts, shopping, nature, and more right here. Whatever you enjoy, you're sure to have a good time.
